Meet our current writers:
Chris McKinney - I used to work in the investment management profession. Currently, I manage a family member's portfolio and write about my investment decisions in the Value Focus section of this website. I have also written for Seeking Alpha from time to time under the author name Wisdom's Reward. I have Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Finance from The University of Alabama. While I have not maintained active membership in CFA Institute, I was awarded the CFA charter in 2008. I rapidly advanced in an investment management career working for a top 30 U.S. bank, and later for the investment team of a large insurance company. Then my life was torn apart by alcohol addiction, and subsequently restored by a loving savior.
"For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Matthew 23:12
I used to be arrogant and self-reliant. I used to think life was what I made of it. I now realize that problems can be incredibly difficult to overcome, and circumstances sometimes can be incredibly difficult or even impossible to change, no matter how hard a person works at accomplishing those things. If things have always worked out for you somehow, someway, you probably won't quite understand or agree with that perspective. But my perspectives on life, wealth, the American dream, and other people have changed drastically since 2009. For example, I remember getting irritated that I had to walk by homeless people on my way to lunch. I wonder what they thought about me as I strolled by them in my business suit, always ignoring their requests for spare change. I wonder if they thought I'd end up in a homeless shelter myself. I certainly didn't. But that's exactly what happened.
I'm so thankful for the things I've been through because the Lord used those situations to change what was inside of me. He has enabled me to have compassion for other people in their struggles. I want to see others experience the amazing mercy and grace that God has shown to me. Please take some time to read my entire personal testimony here.
